AGM 2012

AGM 2012

Report of the Annual General Meeting November 2012 (as yet unadopted) but for information only.

The Chairman reported that the current membership stood at 118 and we had welcomed five new life members and seven new annual members.  It was suggested that all members should give their email address to the secretary to enable him to communicate more effectively.  He paid tribute to the Treasurer for her parsimonious housekeeping and offered her services to the Greek Government.  We continue to be members of the Scottish Local History Forum and represented therein by the Secretary.  During the year various events had taken place. The photographic display for T.G.I.F. in the new bus shelter was enthusiastically received.  Despite initially deciding on no exhibition during the year we held a Jubilee event on Toll Green but some concerns had been expressed that it was only on for one day, so many people missed it.  Guided walks had been successful and a party from Dunfermline West Church had been welcomed. The same walk around Earlsferry was laid on for Fife Doors Open Day, in conjunction with an exhibition at St Michael’s Church.  The Quiz Night would again be in February this time, Friday 8th, and due to construction work at the Pavilion would be held in Elie Parish Church Hall. Ten tables of four and supper would again be part of the evening members are advised to book early and tickets from the usual outlets early in the New Year.  George Harvey is sharpening his pencil compiling more fiendish questions.  Further details would appear on the website.  The attendances at meetings had on occasion been disappointing and the Chairman would welcome any views from members to increase the attendance. He paid tribute to the committee members who once again had worked hard to bring the Society to the fore in the village.  For the year ahead work on planning the Heritage Trail Plaques would proceed with the idea that visitors could pick up a leaflet and walk round. There was a possibility that we might try to refurbish, clean and possibly illuminate the War Memorial for the Centenary in 2014; this could possibly be grant earning and some funds remain in T.G.I.F.

Thereafter the following committee was elected.G Meacher, A Provan, R Black, A Graham, G T Millar, A Lawrie, M McMaster, C Birrell, J Bulloch.

Afternote: G Johnston   has volunteered to be webmaster and will join committee.

No increase in the Annual Subscriptions was proposed for 2013.

Thereafter the members enjoyed an illustrated talk by Rodger McAslan from the Scottish Fisheries Museum about the fishing community in the East Neuk.
